Child and Family Services /

Recreation Schedule
Homestead Child and Family Services has experienced
dramatic growth over the past few years. In 2006, we
opened an office at One Cumberland Street in Woonsocket,
Rhode Island and began to expand the services it
provided to children and their families. Further growth
prompted the opening of a satellite office at 535
Centerville Road in Warwick, Rhode Island.
Programs offered by Homestead Child and Family Services
include: Home-Based Therapeutic Services, Personal Assistance Services and Supports and Respite Services to
eligible children between 3 thru 21 years of age.
In
addition, an Early Intervention program has been
established to promote the growth and development of
children from birth to three-years-old.
HBTS (Home-Based
Therapeutic Services)
HBTS is a Medicaid-funded program for children with
special health care needs. The service includes
implementation of measurable treatment goals developed
by a licensed clinician in conjunction with a
coordinator, the home-based worker, and the family.
The clinician provides ongoing training to the worker
and the family during treatment. All families are
referred to us by a CEDARR (Comprehensive Evaluation
Diagnosis Assessment Referral Re-evaluation) Center
Our agency and the CEDARR Center work together
throughout the treatment period (in 6-month segments) to
insure consistency with the goals identified by the
CEDARR Center.
PASS (Personal
Assistance Services and Supports
The Department of Human Services (DHS) has developed a
service for children with special health care needs and
their families. Personal Assistance Services and
Supports are consumer-directed and provide flexibility
in staffing that can maximize a family’s choice and
control. The core goal of this service is to facilitate
independent community living and participation in the
most natural and least restrictive environment.

Respite
Respite is a service for families who are eligible
through The Department of Human Services. Respite
provides parents and other primary caregivers a break
from caring for their child with special care needs.
Respite can be provided within the child’s home, in the
community or at the worker’s home. Many families refer
workers to us for appropriate clearances and
familiarity.
Early Intervention (EI)
Early Intervention is a program that promotes the growth
and development of infants and toddlers. Children who
are under three years of age who have a developmental
disability or delay in one or more areas may be
eligible. Developmental disabilities or delays can
affect a child’s speech, physical ability, or social
skills.
Children referred to Early Intervention receive a
comprehensive developmental evaluation to determine if
they are eligible for the program.
One of the goals of Early Intervention is to provide
support to families to help their children develop to
their fullest potential. Services are provided in
‘natural environments’ - places where children usually
play or take part in daily activities/ routines.
