Training Announcements:

CPR Books

Starting JULY 1st, the Training Department will no longer send CPR books to class participants.  Class participants will need to contact Monique Barnes to obtain CPR books prior to class and will be responsible for returning them to her following the class.  According to the American Heart Association, participants enrolled in CPR classes must receive a CPR book prior to attending class in order to allow ample time for preparation.  The current process does not comply with these guidelines or support learners’ needs.  By changing our policy, staff members will now be able to determine their own “study” needs.  Staff will be charged an $8.00 fee for course materials in the event that CPR books are not returned.  Please contact  Monique Barnes at extension 274  if you have any further questions or concerns.

NEW EMPLOYEE Human Rights Training Reminder:

Human Rights: This is a required in-service training for all new employees. This course is not intended to recertify tenured staff in Human Rights.  Human Rights Recertification sessions should be conducted during staff meetings.  The Human Recertification Training Committee designed tools to be utilized for ongoing trainings. These tools include a game, training scenarios, case studies with trainer notes and a reference list of a variety of trainings material. (Videos, books, etc).

Please contact Paul Lamarre with questions.

All supervisors need to document trainings and complete an “ongoing staff training” list and/or complete a listing of staff attending ongoing trainings. Please forward a copy of the list to training.

Crisis Intervention II:

For those staff members who plan to attend Crisis Intervention II in group homes, please add this to the registration form.

  Videos:

Without Apology by Susan Hamovitch: The film is a documentary of her family's "dark secret" about her brother Alan, born with a disability so severe he would never develop the ability to speak.

Dr. Carl’s Vision: This is an hour long video tape presentation of the future direction of the Arc.

The videos are available for staff meetings. Phone Paul Lamarre @ X191 Posted November 30, 2006.
